Before starting Amazon, Jeff Bezos was a vice president at D. E. Shaw, a global investment and technology development firm. At D.E. Shaw, Bezos worked on developing computer-based quantitative investment strategies. He was not a Wall Street investment banker or trader, as such, but rather worked on developing technology and algorithms for the firm’s trading and investment activities.
