In Adam Grant’s book “Give and Take”, he explores how individuals interact in both personal and professional capacities, categorising them as takers, matchers, or givers. Grant, a business professor at Wharton, conducted research to determine which interaction style leads to the most career success. Surprisingly, he discovered that while givers often emerge as the most successful, they can also fall to the bottom of the success ladder if they don’t manage their giving properly. Effective givers ask three key questions before assisting others: “why?”, “when?”, and “for whom?”. It’s crucial for givers to strike a balance to avoid burnout and to not let others exploit their generosity.
